Ahoy! Bournemouth Air Festival 2018

Ahoy! Bournemouth Air Festival 2018

Bournemouth Air Festival is back next week.

The popular event is on from Thursday 30th August – Sunday 2nd September. There are fantastic things to see and do over the course of the four days, and if you’re marine enthusiasts like ourselves, you will be especially looking forward to the impressive military ship!

During the festival, Bournemouth’s picture-perfect horizon will be transformed by an impressive military flotilla, including 4 ships, courtesy of the Royal Navy. This year we look forward to seeing the Type 45 Destroyer, HMS Diamond. Built in Glasgow and Portsmouth, HMS Diamond was launched on the 27th November in 2007.

Anchorage Tours HMS Diamond

Special anchorage tours around HMS Diamond will enable visitors to view the vessel at close quarters. Leaving from Bournemouth Pier, the trips will last approximately 45 minutes and offer you the chance to see this magnificent ship from all angles. Tickets are available for visits on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Make sure you bring some binoculars to get a glance of the crew at work from the shore. Any keen swimmers are advised to swim either side of the pier or within the cornered off areas.
